Postpartum Doula Services

In many cultures, the postpartum period is a time for mothering the mother. Unfortunately, in modern America, this concept has been lost to the most extent. As we move further from our families and become more disconnected from traditional communities, most mothers are left to fend for themselves during this important transition. This lack of support can sometimes lead to higher rates of postpartum depression, less success at breastfeeding and higher incidence of abuse.

I feel it is important for you to be supported in a wise and caring way. As your postpartum doula, my role is to help you and your family adjust to new and changing dynamics in the "fourth trimester." My focus is with helping you foster independence in your ability to nurture and connect with each other. What I do will vary from day to day, as the needs of your family change. With some families I will work with them for a couple of days, while others I will work with up to six weeks. I am present for not only mothers, but their partners and other children as well. As you experience greater success in your new family dynamic, your knowledge and self-confidence will grow, and your need for my support will lessen with time.

My postpartum services can include:

  • Emotional, physical and information support in the days and weeks after birth.
  • Care for your infant(s) while you take a much needed nap or shower.
  • Breastfeeding support, resources and guidance for single children and multiples.
  • Practical support for your household, such as grocery trips, nutritional meal preparation, and light cleaning.
  • Help with adjustment of your other children.
  • Baby-proofing and organizational advisement.
  • Support and resources for changing financial situations that come with a growing family.
  • Household support (antenatal doula care) if you are placed on bedrest before birth.
  • Daytime shift availability:
Monday - Friday (8:30am-12:30pm). 2-3 days per week.

Getting Acquainted Postpartum Package ($200):

I love offering my support, if the above prices are beyond what you are able to pay, please contact me so we can explore different options. Do not let cost keep you from contacting the doula you want!

I can provide you with third-party reimbursement information, if you would like to pursue reimbursement from your health insurance or medical reimbursement account.

Fourth Trimester

What Past Families Are Saying:

"Thank you so much for the food, help around the house and at the hospital! I can't tell you how much I appreciated everything you did for me and my family (it was huge). You were a comfort to me. I am so blessed to have met you and consider you a sister."
- J. (Third Time Mom)

"Tara was awesome!"
- J. (First Time Dad)

"My husband and I both know that our birth experience would not have been the same without her. She helped us be better prepared for labor and birth than any of the 7 books I read. Having Tara with us through this journey made it as easy as possible. She answered ALL our questions we had in the weeks before the birth and was with me the moment I started going into early labor. I stayed at home longer and was able to go through early labor in my own home rather than running to the hospital at the first contraction. She was an important part of our team and if we have another baby we will be calling on her again. I have told everyone I know about her and will be referring EVERY pregnant woman I know in the future to her. I couldn't imagine doing it without her. She is an amazing person with a great heart."
- R. (First Time Mom)

"There really aren't words to tell you thank you enough for walking through this journey with our family. We are so thankful that God brought you into our lives. You helped us so much and made our experience so amazing. You definitely have a gift! We pray God will bless you 100 times more for all you did for us!"
- E. & S. (First Time Parents)

"On the day that I met Tara my partner and I found out that we were expecting twins. We were excited and terrified. When we told Tara she said "lets just take a deep breath." We did so and immediately began to relax, focus and prepare for our little ones. This to me in many ways sums up my experience with Tara. Her support and guidance allowed me to relax, focus and enjoy the task of caring for my babies. Once we were home she did all kinds of tasks, including helping me figure out how I was going to do those tasks without her! She offered support with regards to feeding and other aspects of care. On her last day I told her that while I was very sad to see her go, I wasn't as scared as I thought I would be, and that I thought that meant she had done her job well. I am so happy to have had her in our lives at this very precious time. She did so much for my family."
- M. (First Time Mom)
